SHOUT AT THE WORLD
This page is mostly for me a sort of diary of my emotions.  My hope that maybe people will listen and learn that ALL people should be more considerate of others and as the saying goes 'walk a mile in my shoes'.
I wanted a page where I could talk about what it is like to have a special needs child.  I day dreamed of the day Amelia would be born.  Before I was married I had her name already picked out.  In fact, when my mom was sick with terminal cancer I sat in her room one day and told her that I wanted to name my girl after her.  Well she had a boy first  name, her name was Coy Mae,she said no way.  So I sat with a piece of paper and pen and using the letters in her first, middle, and maiden name came up with, Amelia Cay.  My mom said I really like that name.  I would be proud of that.  So I told her it was settled.  I dreamt of a little girl that I could put in fancy dresses and fix her hair.  We could bond when she got older and talk about girl things.  Then she was here and problems arose.  I learned to deal with each one that arose but my latest and biggest challenge is getting it through to people that Amelia deserves to live her life and be a part of society.  I walk into a store with my Child and it never fails that there is someone who has to make a rude comment or seems to think Amelia is contagious if there child reaches out to her or talks to her.  Amelia is not at her age level but she is more a typical child than they care to find out.  For instance, she loves books.  She knows all the words to the "SpongeBob" theme.  She is a typical girl she doesn't like bugs.  She loves looking pretty when she goes to church or to school.  She primps in the mirror.  She has feelings like everyone else.  You hurt her feelings when you make fun of her.  She loves everyone and wants to be everyones friend.  She loves Jesus and singing.  She can ride her bike, tell a joke.  By the way her favorite one is ,"why did the cookie go to the doctor?"  Because he was feeling crumby. LOL.  She loves playing on the swing and ball pits.  She loves pizza.  Okay here is one, she likes spinach.  Parents thats not normal or typical but that is something that I consider a great asset.  Wouldn't you like your kids to eat their veggies?
